First Powerball Millionaire of the Year
The New Year's Eve promotion is jointly organized by Powerball and Dick Clark Productions. Entry is a two-stage process, where semi-finalists are selected via local draws, before five finalists are chosen in a nationwide draw. One of the finalists will go on to win the $1 million grand prize.
The 2021 competition ran from August through October 2020. Each participating state lottery sets its own launch date and deadline for entries. Players need to submit non-winning Powerball tickets into a second chance draw; a semi-finalist from each jurisdiction is then selected and prizes for winners at this level are awarded.
